How many scuba divers have been killed by sharks?

Chachee asked:

I am curious as to how many divers have been attacked and killed by shark attacks while diving. I searched for stats on the internet, but came up empty handed.

Well it is not very likely I think.

    Chachee,

    It seldom happens.

Most divers avoid shark infested waters. Additionally, sharks tend to attack something they think they want to eat. Divers or surfers in black wet suits look like seals, otters, or other near-shore food. Divers wear things like shiny tanks, or have colored panels in our wetsuits to make us not look like a seal.

yeah, that’s because there are too few a year to count, and if they get attacked, most survive because they dive with buddies. in maui last february (i think) a california guy went out diving alone (retard) and had a heart attack and was THEN attacked by a shark, but that wasn’t the cause of death. so that’s the most recently i’ve heard of a DIVER being attacked by a shark. again, most people don’t dive where there are a bunch of sharks, and if they do, they wear really non seal resembling things.
