Don’t know about Mexico but in UK expect to pay £300 to £400 for complete Openwater Diver Course including class room and pool sessions, 4 x sea dives and all equipment rental

The average Open Water course can cost anywhere between 250 - 350 dollars. You’ll need some gear before taking it, namely mask, fins and snorkel. Not a rental option because it has to fit YOU.
So on top of the course expect to pony out almost another 300 bucks for some quality gear for an average Joe diver.
Your mask can go for 90- 150 bucks, fins, 80- 275 bucks and snorkel 30- 90 bucks.
I see you mention Mexico. Get your cert where you live. DON’T do it down south. Don’t even think of transferring your course down there. Do it all at home. I’m not saying that there aren’t great dive shops in Mexico (there are) but I’m saying that you’ll be a better diver learning cold water before warm. It goes without saying that warm water certs vs cold water ones only know half their shit. They only need to know half to dive warm.
The average Cozumel boat package on a 6 pack ( 6 person boat) is anywhere from 60 -90 bucks US for a two tank drift. Cattle boats are less but tripping over 30 other divers and their gear is just a pain and relegated to the newbies and warm water certs.
