No the snorkel has a one way valve so water doesnt go in but you just have to hold your breath.

Scuba diving is awesome! u only need the snorkel if u wanna quicly jump in the water, like if you saw a pod of dolphins on the way back to shore in the boat u could just ask the boat to stop and go snorkel with the dolphins. i leave mine in the boat as it is a hastle to dive with it.

What you are describing sounds more like free diving not scuba.

With scuba diving you need special equipment such as a scuba set.

There are some links below to help show the difference.

I hope to finish a scuba diving course some day.

I’ve gone scubba diving only a few times and you do not use a snorkle, i have only used a snorkle when i went snorkeling. When you go scubba diving you have a mask and a big vest like thing and an oxygen tank. The tank isnt as heavy when you get in the water. To go scubba diving you have to take a class first so dont be nervous they will teach you how to tell when you are running low on oxygen and how to get water out of your mask and they will teach you hand signals to communicate with the others under water.
If you have more questions go to
*Dont get nervous and back out though because its whole different world under water and its sooo beautiful.
